SAVINGS

A MSCU Share account is a convenient way to save because the funds in this account may be withdrawn at any time without penalty. To start your savings account, a deposit of only $5.00 is required.

CERTIFICATE OF DEPOSIT
A risk-free way to earn highly competitive returns. CD terms range from 30 days to 4 years. 

IRA ACCOUNT
Our Individual Retirement Account is an excellent way to save for retirement. Taxes on the account earnings are deferred until the account is drawn on, usually when you are in a lower tax bracket. Your annual contribution to this account may be tax deductible. Contact your tax advisor to see if you qualify for this deduction.  Roth IRA, Roth Conversions, and Educational IRA's are also available.
Please call for an appointment to open or close an IRA.

CLUB ACCOUNTS
Our Christmas and Vacation Club accounts provide an ideal way to save for any annual expense. Your regular contribution and our competitive dividends mean your money will grow quickly.

***IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT YOUR SAVINGS ACCOUNTS***

We would like to provide a little more information on the Regulation D limitations in regards to SAVINGS accounts.

Reg. D is something the credit union must comply with. On a savings account, your automatic deposits do not count, only your automatic withdrawals. You are allowed 6 unsigned withdrawals per month. These include online banking transfers, Dial (Audio Response Unit) transfers, phone transfers, automatic bill payments, automatic account debits from a third party, reoccurring payments such as mortgage and a system overdraft transfers to cover checks in your checking account.

Once the 6 per calendar month are met, the savings transaction will be rejected and the standard NSF fee will apply.

Withdrawals at a teller window or through an ATM machine do not count.

A savings account is considered a non-transactional account.

CHECKING

PREMIER CHECKING
Premier Checking is the first share draft account to earn interest.

  • Minimum balance of $5,000 is required
  • No monthly maintenance fee
  • Check orders are free (one box per order)
  • Interest will be posted monthly
  • $8.00 monthly fee if minimum balance is not maintained

SHARE DRAFT CHECKING
Possibly our most popular program, our virtually fee-free checking account is one of the best. Compare ours with other programs and decide for yourself.

  • No minimum balance. Members can maintain any balance they wish without penalty or charge.
  • Overdraft line of credit. Protect yourself from non sufficient fund checks.  Subject to approval.
  • Convenient. Our carbonless copy design gives you an automatic record of your checks. An easy-to-reconcile monthly statement makes keeping track of your accounts a breeze.
  • No per check fees.
  • Low monthly maintenance fee of $3.00 (waived if MSCU VISA Card holder).
  • Senior Citizens qualify for free check orders and the monthly maintenance fee is waived.  

Metro Shores uses Telecheck for checking account opening approvals.

ACCEPTED WORLDWIDE!

Our VISA card is accepted worldwide at thousands of locations as a means of purchase. Why pay high rates of interest for other cards? Our VISA rate is much lower than those offered by national card issuers, and has these great features:

  • A low 8.88% fixed rate of interest on the Visa Preferred Platinum.
  • A low 11.88% fixed rate of interest on the Visa Classic. Many others charge as much as 18% to 21%.
  • 25 day grace period. Take up to 25 days after billing to pay your full balance before incurring any interest on purchases.

 ONLINE BANKING SECURITY CU@HOME
Metro Shores Credit Union takes your online security seriously. Therefore, we are adding an extra level of security, called Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), to our online banking (CU@HOME) site starting February 21, 2007.

WHAT IS MFA?
MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) is a new security feature that provides an extra layer of security that works 24/7 to protect your CU@HOME account, even when you are not banking online. MFA helps you guard against fraudulent online activities like Phishing scams (malicious requests for your personal information) and identity theft.

HOW DOES MFA WORK?
Once you enroll into MFA, the new security system recognizes your computer. If questionable logon attempts are detected, the system will require additional identity verification before allowing access to your CU@HOME account.

During registration, members select a personalized image from an image pool that will be added to CU@HOME. This image becomes a "shared secret" between the member and the credit union that is displayed on CU@HOME before the member logs in. A fraudulent web site would not display the pre-selected image.

In addition to this security feature, a set of secret questions will be asked for the member's to answer. This will allow the member to view their account on another computer, besides their own. Logging into the account on another computer will put up a red flag that this may not be the correct person logging in. The security question will be given and if answered correctly, the member will gain access to their account.

E-STATEMENTS

E-Statements. The convenience is at your finger tips! Log into Online Banking to sign up today!

  • Is there a charge for E-Statements?
    No. E-Statements are free to all of our members.
  • What if I don't like E-Statements after signing up, can I receive a regular statement instead?
    We know you'll love the convenience of E-Statements, but if you would like to receive a paper statement instead, all you have to do is notify the credit union before your next statement is due to be mailed. (If you make a request for a paper statement after receiving your E-Statement, you will have to wait for the next statement cycle)
  • How long will it take before I receive my E-Statement?
    Don't wait for snail mail anymore! With E-Statements your statement will be available at the beginning of each month.
  • I'm worried I won't receive the credit union's newsletter if i sign up for E-Statements.
    Don't worry! A copy of the current newsletter is always available online to view or print, or will be available in the lobby's of our four credit union locations.

DRAFT VIEW

This useful feature allows you to view and print your cancelled checks right online! You will be charged a fee of $3.00 per billable copy. This saves you $2.00 for going online, rather than in the credit union! Each image request will automatically include both front and back. There is no need to select the front/back option box.

By setting up your MICR information to use the check imaging product, you will be charged $3.00 per image you request to view. Please set up your MICR information and choose the account you would like the fee to be deducted.

By accepting this agreement, you consent and agree that Metro Shores Credit Union may provide copies of your cleared drafts to you electronically.

In order to access draft images via Draft View, you must have:

  • Online Banking access
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 5.0 or higher
  • Access to your draft images via Draft View for up to 90 days

To save a copy of your draft image on your personal computer:

  1. Open the image in Online Banking.
  2. Click on the "Save a Copy" option or the icon that resembles a diskette in the upper left corner of your screen.
  3. Select the location that you would like to save it in for access at a future date.
  4. Click "Save."

ATM CARDS

Get an ATM card at no charge to you! A small fee will apply to replace an existing ATM card.

Look for the logos listed below on Automated Teller Machines throughout the nation conveniently located in financial institutions, grocery stores, malls and shopping centers. A MSCU ATM card gives you access to your money 24 hours a day, everyday!

***IMPORTANT NOTICE***

Effective April 7, 2006, the fees that are charged for transactions made outside the United States, where the cardholder’s country code differs from the merchant’s country code, are changing. On the effective date, agreements governing ATM, debit and credit cards bearing the MasterCard®, Maestro® or Cirrus® logo and agreements governing transaction that are processed through the MasterCard® Global Clearing Management System or the MasterCard® Debt Switch are amended to include the following provisions.

Purchases, cash advances and cash withdrawals made in foreign currencies will be debited from your account in U.S. dollars. The exchange rate used to convert foreign currency transactions to U.S. dollars is either a government-mandated exchange rate or a wholesale exchange rate and is selected by MasterCard. The rate MasterCard uses for a particular transaction is the rate MasterCard selects for the applicable currency on the day the transaction is processed. This rate may differ from the rate applicable on the date the transaction occurred or was posted to your account.

A fee of up to 1% will be charged on all transactions completed outside of the United States where the cardholder’s country code differs from the merchant’s country code. In addition, a fee of up to 1% will be charged on all transactions completed in a foreign currency. All fees are calculated based on the transaction amount after it is converted to U.S. dollars. These fees are charged except where excluded.This Amendment replaces existing provisions in agreement concerning transactions made in foreign countries or in foreign currencies and supplements agreements that do not currently contain such provisions. Please feel free to contact the credit union with any questions you may have concerning this change.

DEBIT CARDS



Metro Shores is proud of the MasterMoney Debit Card Program. If you have a checking account with the credit union you can apply for a debit card. The new cards carry the MasterCard logo and can be used to make purchases from your checking account anywhere MasterCard is accepted. No more check writing when you're out and about. You can also use your card to do transactions at ATM machines. Debit cards do require approval so please request your application today.

With a touch-tone telephone and a personal identification password, your credit union accounts are never more than a phone call away with DIAL. It's a convenient and easy way to handle your finances while at home, work or while traveling. DIAL provides you with computerized access to your accounts 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It is the ultimate in convenience and it is entirely safe.

To make it even better, DIAL is a service provided at NO COST to credit union members. DIAL is safe and it's confidential for these reasons:

  1. Only you have access to your password/PIN;
  2. Transactions can be made only between your own accounts;
  3. Transfers cannot be made to someone else's account.

WHAT CAN DIAL DO?

DIAL acts as your personal telephone teller. DIAL is easy to use because its menu driven ... you are instructed step-by-step what to do. To see the many types of inquiries and transactions that are possible with DIAL, refer to your Service Card. These codes will be used to make your selections through your touch tone phone.

SOME HELPFUL HINTS

  1. When entering dollar amounts for transfers and withdrawals, enter the dollars and cents without a decimal. For example, $150.00 would be entered as 15000.
  2. Your PASSWORD is also referred to as your PIN.

EASY STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

From a touch tone phone, call (734) 676-8546. When the system prompts, enter your Base Member Number, (1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 digits) and four digit Personal Identification Number as instructed.Example: Base 99999#
Pin 1111#You will then enter the MAIN MENU. The MAIN MENU consists of five options:

  1. Transactions
    • from Checking Account
    • From Share Account
    Inquiries
    • Balance on all accounts Checking Accounts, Share Accounts, Loan Accounts
    • IRA Accounts
    Caller can customize their PIN Number General Information General Information
    • Office hours/locations

    Allows caller to enter new Mem. # and PIN

The system will ask for your Share or Loan I.D. Enter the three digit I.D. for your account. Refer to your statement for the correct three digit I.D.
Do not enter decimals for dollar amounts. Example: $10.00 is 1000.
